Remembering Apple’s Steve Jobs a Year Later

A whole year has passed by since Steve Jobs passed away, but he still remains firmly in everyone’s hearts and minds – and definitely in their devices! The founder of Apple is credited with some of today’s most popular gadgets including the iPhone, the iPad and the iPod.

The world has marked his the anniversary of his passing in various ways. Apple itself has put up an emotional video on their homepage about the life and accomplishments of Jobs. The video pays homage with black and white images and quotes – simple, just like the man and his creations. The website also has a note from Apple’s current CEO Tim Cook, where he talks about Steve and his contribution to the company. “I hope that everyone will reflect on his extraordinary life and the many ways he made the world a better place,” he writes.

Aware of his imminent death, Jobs lived free from the fear of dogma and disappointment. In his commencement speech at Stanford University in 2005, Jobs said, “Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Because almost everything – all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure – these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.”

It was after several bouts of illness that Steve Jobs died of respiratory arrest related to a metastatic tumour last year. Today he is remembered for breathing life into technology around the world, and reminding all of us that less really is more.

    Great Post! I believe Steve Jobs has marked a name in the technology world. He passed exactly one year ago, but the impact he left on his company, the tech industry and his fans still remains.
