On Wednesday, November 20, the Orange County Business Council (OCBC) will hold its third annual “Turning Red Tape into Red Carpet Awards Receptionâ€. During this event, the OCBC gives out awards in different categories to Orange County public agencies. In order to receive an award, the agency must have a program that has cut through the red tape to open a new door for business growth and general success.
The programs that receive awards have innovative designs in business and/or economic development. They generate or retain jobs and invest on a continual basis. A program must have a stated objective with measurable results, original, cost effective and should support the development of solid relationships with relevant individuals as well as the general community. Applicants must be able to demonstrate significant cross-community collaboration as well as the capacity to adapt and respond to unpredicted events in a timely fashion.
The OCBC frequently seeks out programs that support green chemistry, building, infrastructure, renewable energy, environmental industries, technologies, smart growth and sustainable tourism.
Awards are given for the following categories: Responding to Globalization, Business Retention and Expansion, Real Estate Redevelopment and Reuse, Sustainable and Green Development. Awards are also given for Leadership in Public Service and Public-Private Partnership.
The 2013 festivities are taking place at The Center Club at 650 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa. It runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Individual tickets are $60 for OCBC members and $85 for the general public. Registration begins at 5:00 p.m. on the day of the event.
