Starting Business in Los Angeles? Learn the Basics

If you run a business in Los Angeles, you can gain insight from leading business professionals at a summer conference called “Small Business Entrepreneurship: Doing Business in Los Angeles” on Saturday, August 23, 2014.Business Entrepreneurship

The exclusive meeting will be held at the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Economic Development, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm (PDT). It’s a free event, which will be hosted by city officials and your local Los Angeles Public Libraryand is part of the “Doing Business in LA” workshop series.

What to Expect
This workshop is aimed at pre-startup and small business owners who want to learn about basics of how to legally launch and run a business in the City of Los Angeles. The city will provide resources and regional partners that help small business start-ups. Anyone who is thinking about or in the process of starting a new business, as well as existing business owners, will find this information valuable. Register online here and receive an e-card to access the online database. Over the course of two hours the workshop will answer these questions:

  • What is Entrepreneurship?
  • What type of business should I start?
  • What are the steps to getting started?

Where to Park
While parking will be limited on a first come, first serve basis, validated parking will be available at 524 South Flower Street Garage. Parking can be validated on the first floor of the Library Information Desk upon presenting an LAPL library card, which is available for free. The validation will appear on the ticket as an imprinted barcode. The cost of parking will be a flat rate of one dollar, from 10am to 5:30 pm. Non-validated parking will cost $3.50 per 10 minutes, which can add up to a $35 daily maximum. An alternative to parking is to use public transportation.
